Isle of Wight Cycling Festival – 18-26 September
Some 4,500 cyclists are expected to take part in what has become the UK's biggest cycling festival. Whether your'e riding solo or as a family, are a beginner or experienced, there is a level to suit everyone. The festival begins with the annual Sink or Swim challenge in Seaclose Park in Newport. {For the more hardcore cyclists, the 70 mile Cycle the Wight event is for you, although the Cycle Ride for Softies is open to less serious riders, offering numerous stop offs at local tea shops along the way.
Isle of Wight Autumn Walking Weekend – 23 – 26 October
With rugged landscapes and beautiful views, the
Isle of Wight attracts ramblers year round. With a range of 50 organised walks taking place across the island’s 500 miles of footpaths, even non-walkers are encouraged to give the Autumn Walking Weekend a go. There is so much to do, from themed Halloween night walks and nature searches for native red squirrels. The kids might even come across some dinosaur fossils on one of the beach walks!
